Union Jack est un groupe de ska punk français, originaire de la banlieue nord de Paris. Ils tournent en Europe et au Canada avec des groupes comme The Damned, UK Subs, et The Aggrolites. Union Jack est le nom d’artiste donné à une collaboration entre Simon Berry et Claudio Giussani, un producteur anglais de trance. Le duo s’est focalisé sur l’acid trance et la tech trance, et est intimement associé au label , fondé par Berry. Déçus par la musique des années 90, Berry et Giussani se sont associés en 1993, d’abord en remixant le titre « Away the Throttle Pedal Stop » de Nicely, avant de produire leur premier single mythique « Two Full Moons and a Trout ». Le single suivant, « Cactus », renforça leur réputation avant la sortie de leur premier album There Will Be No Armageddon. Cet album contient notamment « Red Herring », à écouter à la maison ou sur le dance floor, ce titre étant alors devenu populaire dans les clubs des années 90. Le film Hackers (1995) fait référence à ce groupe. En 2008, après un silence de sept ans, Union Jack (cette fois-ci avec Paul Brodgen, de POB/Seismic Records) se relança dans un live au festival Ultra Music, reprenant leurs titres classiques. Le succès de ce live poussa le groupe à sortir un nouvel album en 2009, Pylon Pigs, onze ans après leur dernière production.

The Union Jack was a British story paper for children of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There were two story papers called Union Jack. The first appeared in the 1880s but was only very short-lived. The name was then used by Alfred Harmsworth in 1894 for a new halfpenny story paper intended as a companion to the successful Halfpenny Marvel. Harmsworth considered it his moral duty to put the "penny dreadfuls" out of business, though some considered his papers to simply be "halfpenny dreadfullers". The first issues of the Union Jack stated that it was a "Library of high class fiction". The editorial at the end of the very first issue stated "there will be nothing of the 'dreadful' type in our stories. No tales of boys rifling their employers' cash-boxes and making off to foreign lands, or other such highly immoral fiction products". The paper claimed to be offering good value by "securing the very best authors" but only presenting their stories on cheap paper, rather than "wasting" money on colourful bindings and high-quality paper. However, the actual quality of the stories, especially in the early years, could be variable. Also many writers used pseudonyms to make it appear that more people were writing for the paper than actually were.
