Stipendium adalah sumbangan uang yang diserahkan oleh orang beriman kepada imam atau pada yayasan amal, supaya Misa dipersembahkan demi ujud si pemberi atau intensi. Uang tersebut bukanlah harga untuk sebuah Misa namun bentuk derma untuk keperluan imam sehari-hari dengan syarat bahwa imam mempersembahkan Misa untuk ujud penderma. Kebiasaan ini berkembang dari apa yang sejak semula dipersembahkan umat pada perayaan Ekaristi untuk perjamuan bersama. Sisanya digunakan untuk imam dan orang-orang miskin. Seorang imam hanya boleh menerima satu stipendium saja untuk satu Misa. This is because the stipend is complemented by other benefits such as accreditation, instruction, food, and/or accommodation. Universities usually refer to money paid to graduate students as a stipend, rather than wages, to reflect complementary benefits.
