More intriguing perhaps, visitors can also enter the crypt at the rear of the church which contains a number of full skeletons lying in state, in the darkness of the church's crypt.

Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd de stad het toneel van de Slag om Arnhem, een historische luchtlanding en veldslag die van 17 tot 25 september 1944 plaatsvond, als onderdeel van Operatie Market Garden. De Eusebiuskerk stond middenin de vuurlinie en werd vrijwel volledig verwoest. Alleen de kapotgeschoten toren stak nog boven de ruïnes van de stad uit. Na de oorlog werd de kerk via een ingrijpende restauratie (1947-1964) opnieuw gebouwd. Nu wordt de kerk beschouwd als nationaal icoon van de wederopbouw. De kerk doet tegenwoordig dienst als multifunctionele locatie.
