Els selgoves (en llatí Selgovae, en grec antic Σελγοοῦαι) eren un poble celta del sud-oest de Caledònia a Britània, a la part oriental del Galloway. Eren propers als votadins. El nom de Solway podria derivar d'aquest poble. En parla Claudi Ptolemeu.

Los Selgovae eran un pueblo del sudoeste de Escocia, vecinos de los Novantae. Habitaban al norte del Muro de Adriano, en la actual Galloway, en la península Novantae. Probablemente eran una tribu celta pero muy influida por los Pictos. El nombre significaría "los cazadores" (del irlandés selg, cazador).

Ils étaient les voisins, et peut-être même une ramification, des Votadini qui habitaient plus à l'est. Leur capitale se situait sur la colline d'Eildon Hill, près de Melrose, juste à côté du lieu où les Romains construisirent plus tard le castrum de Trimontium. The Selgovae (Common Brittonic: *Selgowī) were a Celtic tribe of the late 2nd century AD who lived in what is now the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright and Dumfriesshire, on the southern coast of Scotland. They are mentioned briefly in Ptolemy's Geography, and there is no other historical record of them. Their cultural and ethnic affinity is commonly assumed to have been Brittonic.

The Selgovae (Common Brittonic: *Selgowī) were a Celtic tribe of the late 2nd century AD who lived in what is now the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright and Dumfriesshire, on the southern coast of Scotland. They are mentioned briefly in Ptolemy's Geography, and there is no other historical record of them. Their cultural and ethnic affinity is commonly assumed to have been Brittonic. Assertions that the Solway Firth preserves the name of the Selgovae are without foundation. 'Solway' is Anglo-Saxon from the thirteenth century (sol = 'mud', wæth = 'ford'), and this was the name of the main crossing at Eskmouth at that time. The firth has been known by various names in the past, and this one happened to be the survivor.
