The Red Line will be the first section of a light rail system in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, known as the Tel Aviv Light Rail. Im mittleren Abschnitt der Strecke, in Bnei Braq, im Ramat Gans und Tel Avivs Innenstadt ist die Rote Linie als Untergrundbahn in zwei parallelen Röhren von je 6,5 Metern Durchmesser ausgeführt, während die Linie in den übrigen Streckenteilen oberirdisch verkehrt meist ebenerdig auf unabhängigem Bahnkörper inmitten breiter Durchgangsstraßen, aber teils auch im Geländeeinschnitt auf einem stillgelegten Abschnitt der Bahnstrecke Jaffa–Jerusalem (J&J-Linie). In Bnei Braq mündet eine Zweigstrecke aus dem Norden Petach Tiqwahs ein, wo sich auch die Danqal-Werkstätte Depot Qirjat Arjeh befindet.
