La uretra prostàtica, (en llatí: pars prostatica urethrae) és la part més ampla i més dilatable del canal de la uretra, fa uns 3 cm de llargada. Discorre gairebé verticalment a través de la pròstata des de la seva base fins al seu àpex; la forma del canal és fusiforme, essent més ampla al mig que a les extremitats, i és més estreta per sota, on s'uneix amb la part membranosa. La secció transversal té forma de ferradura de cavall.

It runs almost vertically through the prostate from its base to its apex, lying nearer its anterior than its posterior surface; the form of the canal is spindle-shaped, being wider in the middle than at either extremity, and narrowest below, where it joins the membranous portion. A transverse section of the canal as it lies in the prostate is horse-shoe-shaped, with the convexity directed forward. The keyhole sign, in ultrasound, is associated with a dilated bladder and prostatic urethra.

É contínua com a uretra pré-prostática e se torna a parte membranácea da uretra ao ser totalmente envolvida pelo músculo esfíncter externo da uretra. Com cerca de 4 cm de comprimento, é a parte mais larga e dilatável da uretra. Possui uma região onde se abre a maioria dos dúctulos prostáticos. Um aumento da próstata, como por Hiperplasia prostática benigna, pode deformar essa porção da uretra e impedir a micção. Quanto maior o esforço para urinar, maior é a oclusão da uretra.
