It achieved immediate commercial success because of its single "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss". Their 1993 follow-up The Bliss Album...? (Vibrations of Love and Anger and the Ponderance of Life and Existence) was also praised by critics and featured the hit singles "I'd Die Without You" and "Looking Through Patient Eyes". P.M. Dawn continued to receive strong reviews with their subsequent albums Jesus Wept (1995) and Dearest Christian, I'm So Very Sorry for Bringing You Here. Love, Dad (1998), which sold poorly.

De vader van de broers overleed aan longontsteking toen ze nog kinderen waren. Een ander familie-ongeval deed zich voor toen de jongste broer Duncan op tweejarige leeftijd verdronk. De broers werden opgevoed door hun moeder en stiefvader , grondlegger van de discoband Kool & The Gang. In de eerste helft van 2005 werd Prince Be getroffen door een beroerte, die een deel van zijn lichaam verlamde. Hij wist op tijd te herstellen om deel te nemen aan een tv-optreden. Maar kort daarna besloot zijn broer Jarrett de groep te verlaten om een solocarrière op te bouwen. De leemte werd kort daarna opgevuld met alias 'The Doc of the Dawn' of 'Blissboy', een neef van de gebroeders Cordes vaders kant. Op 12 februari 2009 werd Prince Be opnieuw getroffen door een beroerte: dit keer was zijn been zo verlamd geraakt, dat het in december 2009 geamputeerd werd. Op 17 juni 2016 overleed hij op 46-jarige leeftijd.
