شارك المغرب في الألعاب البارالمبية لأول مرة خلال الألعاب البارالمبية الصيفية 1988 التي أُقيمت في سول بكوريا الجنوبية. وقد مثلها فريق من الرجال فقط، تجلّى في خمسة متنافسين في ألعاب القوى، وثلاثة في السباحة، وفريق كرة السلة على الكراسي المتحركة. تمكّن عبد الجليل بيار من الفوز بالميدالية البرونزية في سباق 400 متر سباحة حرة (الفئة 4)، وهي الميدالية المغربية الوحيدة في دورة 1988. منذ ذلك الحين، شارك المغرب في كل نسخة من دورة الألعاب البارالمبية الصيفية، في مقابل عدم مشاركته نهائيا في دورة الألعاب البارالمبية الشتوية. فاز المغاربة بإحدى عشرة ميدالية ذهبية (كلها منذ 2004)، وسبع فضيات وثماني برونزيات. فاز مصطفى الأوزري بالميدالية الذهبية في سباق 1500 متر رجال في ألعاب القوى عام 2004، في فئة (T11) للعدائين المكفوفين تمامًا. وفي العام نفسه، فاز عبد الله الزين بالميدالية الذهبية في سباق 800 م رجال في فئة (T52). في عام 2008، كانت سناء بنهامة أول بطلة مغربية في الألعاب البارالمبية، وأنجح لاعبة بارالمبية في البلاد حتى الآن، حيث فازت بثلاث ميداليات ذهبية في سباقات 100 متر و 200 متر و 400 متر، في فئة (T13) للرياضيين ضعاف البصر. وفاز عبد الإله مامي بالميدالية الذهبية الأخرى للبلاد في الألعاب، في سباق 800 متر رجال في فئة (T13).

In 2008, Sanaa Benhama was Morocco's first female Paralympic champion, and the country's most successful Paralympian to date, when she won three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m sprints, in the T13 category for partially sighted athletes. Abdelillah Mame won the country's other gold medal of the Games, in the men's 800m (T13). Morocco took part in the 2012 Summer Paralympics, with the using Bedford as the UK base for its Paralympians.
