La gendarmerie nationale (en arabe : الدرك الوطني) est le corps de gendarmerie nationale de la République algérienne démocratique et populaire. Elle est placée sous la tutelle du ministère de la Défense nationale. Elle est composée d'environ 180 000 hommes. Les gendarmes sont habituellement chargés de la sécurité dans les zones rurales et les zones périurbaines. Son patron est le général Yahia Ali Oulhadj et son siège est basé à Chéraga dans la banlieue Ouest d'Alger.
