http://dbpedia.org/resource/Cambuslang_East_(ward)

Cambuslang East is one of the twenty wards used to elect members of the South Lanarkshire Council. Created in 2007, it elects three councillors. The largest neighbourhood within the suburban ward is Halfway, also including the areas of Cairns, the Circuit, Drumsagard, Lightburn, Newton and Westburn, all situated within Cambuslang, lying east of its town centre. The northern border is the River Clyde and the eastern border the Rotten Calder. A 2017 national review removed some territory in the west of the ward (between Greenlees Road and the Cathcart Circle Line railway tracks over Hamilton Road). The population in 2018 was 16,597. rdf:langString

A 2017 national review removed some territory in the west of the ward (between Greenlees Road and the Cathcart Circle Line railway tracks over Hamilton Road). The population in 2018 was 16,597. The ward was formed from roughly the boundaries of two wards under the previous single-member system used from the creation of South Lanarkshire local authority in 1995 until 2007: Cairns and Hallside. Most new merged wards were formed from at least three smaller predecessors, but the population of this territory had increased substantially over the dozen years since the last reorganisation due to the construction of the new Drumsagard neighbourhood, with further developments planned for the near future at sites including Westfarm, Newton Farm and Gilbertfield – these projects were largely completed over the next decade, increasing the ward's population above that of its neighbours. Prior to 1995, the town of Cambuslang was within the Glasgow District under Strathclyde Regional Council - one of its single-member wards from 1984 was named Halfway, and this included much the same area as the current Cambuslang East.
