Der Seniors Pot Black 1997 war ein einmalig ausgetragenes Sonderformat des Pot Black Cups, welches im März 1997 im Rahmen der Saison 1996/97 als Snooker-Einladungsturnier im Goodwood House im englischen Chichester ausgetragen wurde und zahlreiche ehemalige Top-Spieler der 1970er- und 1980er-Jahre als Teilnehmerfeld umfasste. Sieger wurde der Weltmeister von 1986 Joe Johnson, der im Finale den Weltmeister von 1979, Terry Griffiths mit 2:0 nach Frames besiegte. Johnson spielte mit einem 57er-Break auch das höchste Break des Turnieres. Die Turnierspiele wurden zwischen dem 3. und dem 14. März 1997 im Fernsehen gezeigt.

Broadcasts were shown on teatime daily on BBC2 and the series started at 17:30 on Monday 3 March 1997. David Vine presented the programme and Ted Lowe and Clive Everton were the commentators while there were more referees in this event than previously. and joined long time referee John Williams. The players were all over 40 years of age. Some had retired from the game and some were still competing in tournaments. All the previous Pot Black champions over 40 were there including Ray Reardon, John Spencer and Eddie Charlton. Joe Johnson who never competed in any previous series of Pot Black won the title beating Terry Griffiths 2–0 to become the only champion of Seniors Pot Black.
