Presidential elections were held in Ghana on 3 November 1992. They were the first contested elections held in the country since 1979, and only the fourth contested elections of any sort since the country gained independence in 1957. Jerry Rawlings, who had led the country since taking power in a 1981 coup, had grudgingly agreed to hold multiparty elections earlier in the year. Rawlings ran as the candidate of the Progressive Alliance, which included his National Democratic Congress, and won 58.4% of the vote, enough to win without the need for a runoff. Voter turnout was 50.2%.

Rawlings ran as the candidate of the Progressive Alliance, which included his National Democratic Congress, and won 58.4% of the vote, enough to win without the need for a runoff. Voter turnout was 50.2%. The opposition accused Rawlings and his supporters of engaging in massive fraud, including ballot-box stuffing and altering results after they were certified. Nonetheless, international observers pronounced the elections free and fair.

El expresidente Hilla Limann, que había sido el presidente constitucional previo al golpe de 1981, se presentó nuevamente y obtuvo casi el 7% de los votos, posicionándose en el tercer lugar. La participación fue del 50.20% del electorado registrado, la más baja del período democrático de Ghana. Tras las elecciones presidenciales, los dos principales partidos de la oposición, el NPP y la Convención Nacional del Pueblo (PNC), denunciaron el resultado y acusaron al gobierno de Rawlings de cometer fraude electoral. Ante la negativa de Rawlings de realizar nuevas elecciones, la oposición boicoteó las elecciones parlamentarias que se celebraron el 29 de diciembre, generando que la participación en estas últimas fuera de tan solo el 28%. El oficialismo obtuvo la totalidad de los escaños, con 189 en manos del NDC, 9 en manos de sus aliados electorales y 2 independientes. La única opositora al gobierno en el Parlamento de 1992 fue , candidata independiente, que posteriormente se uniría al Nuevo Partido Patriótico.
