El TT Isla de Man de 1972 fue la quinta prueba de la temporada 1972 del Campeonato Mundial de Motociclismo. El Gran Premio se disputó el 8 y 9 de junio de 1972 en el Snaefell Mountain Course. También en esta edición, durante la carrera de 125cc, hubo un accidente fatal que involucró a Gilberto Parlotti en Morbidelli, piloto en ese momento líder provisional del campeonato mundial. The Ultra-Lightweight race was held on the last day of the event in heavy rain, and Gilberto Parlotti crashed fatally at the Verandah section of the circuit 29 miles into his second lap; the Italian rider was 31 years old. As the years went on more top riders joined Agostini's boycott and in 1976 it was announced that the TT would be removed from the championship calendar. The British round of the FIM championship was held at Silverstone Circuit on the mainland from 1977 onwards. In the last race of the 1972 event, Agostini won his 10th TT - the most for a non-British rider.

Se già la gara dell'Isola di Man aveva visto man mano decrescere il numero dei partecipanti che lamentavano la particolarità del circuito, questo incidente fu l'ennesimo tassello che porterà ben presto all'eliminazione della corsa dai calendari del motomondiale.
