Werthein ist der Name einer Unternehmerfamilie in Argentinien. Die Stammeltern der Familie Werthein, Leon und Anne Werthein geb. Ama Jajam, wanderten in den Jahren 1904 bzw. 1905 unter dem antijüdischen Verfolgungsdruck aus Bessarabien im zaristischen Russland nach Argentinien aus und ließen sich im Dorf Miguel Riglos in der Provinz La Pampa nieder. Im Jahre 1905 gründeten sie dort ein kleines Geschäft für Tiere, Früchte, Samen und Kraftstoffe. Leon und Anne Werthein hatten acht Kinder, darunter auch Gregorio, Numo, Noel und Julio Werthein.
