WNIV broadcasts with 5,000 watts of power during daytime hours. But to protect other stations on AM 970, it drops to 39 watts during nighttime hours. WNIV uses a non-directional antenna day and night. WNIV's single transmitting tower is shared by WAFS (previously under common ownership) using an antenna diplexing system.
