Die Lokomotive Vossloh G 1700-2 BB ist eine dieselhydraulische Lokomotive der Vossloh Locomotives GmbH. Ihre Achsfolge ist B’B’. Sie hat eine Leistung von wahlweise 1.500 kW oder 1.700 kW und erreicht eine maximale Geschwindigkeit von 100 km/h. Je nach Ausrüstungsvariante bringt sie es auf eine Dienstmasse von 80 t bis 90 t. Dabei erreicht sie eine Anfahrzugkraft von 291 kN bei 90 t Dienstgewicht. Ihr Tankinhalt beträgt 4.400 l. Die Lokomotiven mit 1700-kW-Motor haben das hydraulische Getriebe L620re wie die G 2000 BB, da das sonst verwendete Voith-Turbowendegetriebe für diese Leistung nicht mehr ausgelegt ist. Bei diesen Lokomotiven kann das mechanische Wendegetriebe nur im Stillstand geschaltet werden, was beim Rangieren leicht hinderlich ist. Die G 1700-2 BB ist im schweren Rangier- und Streckendienst einsetzbar und ist in Anlehnung an die zuletzt als „G 1700 BB“ bezeichnete MaK G 1206 komplett neu entwickelt. Sie ist in neun europäischen Ländern zugelassen. Größter Einzelbesteller der G 1700-2 BB in Deutschland ist die Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG (HGK), die fünf Maschinen abgenommen hat. Davon ist aber nur noch eine Lokomotive im Bestand. In Deutschland werden die Lokomotiven als Baureihe 277 bezeichnet. Bei den Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen (SBB) verkehren auf Linksverkehr ausgelegte G 1700-2 BB in einer Serie von 73 Exemplaren als Baureihe Am 843. Zudem gingen je drei baugleiche Lokomotiven an die BLS AG und an Sersa. Die Schweizer Exemplare haben dabei wegen des Linksverkehrs im Schweizer Bahnnetz ein seitenverkehrtes Führerhaus.
