VA-831 was an Attack Squadron of the U.S. Navy Reserve. On 27 Jan 1968, The President directed the activation of VA-831 following the capture of USS Pueblo by a North Korean patrol boat on four days earlier. In July 1968, the squadron was the first activated East Coast reserve unit to be assigned to an operational air wing.
