rdf:langString Ultra South Africa is Africa's largest electronic music festival and is part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion which has now spread to twenty countries. Ultra South Africa is a single day event taking place in two cities (Johannesburg and Cape Town). Having debuted in 2014, Ultra South Africa is one of the longest standing world editions of the festival. Ultra South Africa is a strictly 18 and over event. The eighth edition of Ultra South Africa was meant to be held on 26 & 27 February 2021, unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic the organisers announced on 22 January 2021 that the festival will not be taking place in 2021. The eight edition will now take place on 10 & 11 March 2023, with the Cape Town event heading to a new venue, The Kenilworth Racecourse while the Johannesburg leg will return to its home at the Nasrec Expo Center. The eighth edition of Ultra South Africa will take place on March 10 in Cape Town and March 11 2023 in Johannesburg. Tickets went on sale on September 24th at 08:00 with both tier 1 and tier 2 GA and VIP selling out within a few hours. Ultra South co-founder and director Africa Shaun Duwe says building up to this festival after the Covid lockdowns has been challenging and that conversations between production and technical teams about adding extra elements have been ongoing. Organisers tease that next year’s event will be bigger than it was in past years. “As a team we are over the moon. The response has been unprecedented. There’s been a lot to digest building up to this festival coming out of Covid. So many puzzle pieces to put together. We are back to celebrating life and having a good time and attendees should get ready to dance the night away and meet up with friends from across the country while experiencing louder music, bigger artists and over-the-top fireworks,” says Duwe.
