It was released theatrically on October 9, 2020, and digitally on Amazon Prime Video on October 16, 2020 by Amazon Studios. Although the film was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 93rd Academy Awards, it became one of the few documentary films to ever sweep "The Big Four" critics awards (LA, NBR, NY, NSFC).
