Tuttavia, prima di quest'ultimo, Attenborough scrisse e presentò due serie più brevi: Il primo paradiso (1987), sulle relazioni tra l'uomo e gli ambienti naturali del Mediterraneo, e (1989), sui resti giunti fino a noi della vita preistorica.
