Der Titel des Kurzfilms bezieht sich auf die Doctor-Who-Sonderfolge Die fünf Doktoren (The Five Doctors), ausgestrahlt zum 20. Jubiläum der Serie am 25. November 1983. Darin trafen die ersten fünf Doktoren aufeinander (Peter Davison – 5; Tom Baker – 4; John Pertwee – 3; Patrick Troughton – 2; Richard Hurndall stellvertretend für den 1975 verstorbenen William Hartnell – 1). In The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot verkörpern dagegen die fünf späteren Doktor-Darsteller Peter Davison (5), Colin Baker (6), Sylvester McCoy (7) Paul McGann (8) und David Tennant (10) selbstironisch überzeichnete Parodien ihrer selbst.
