De Sighignola is een berg in Italië, in de regio Lombardije, gelegen tussen het Comomeer en het Luganomeer. De berg is 1.302 meter hoog. Bovenop bevindt zich een plateau vanwaar men een goed uitzicht heeft op Zwitserland, van de stad Lugano tot aan centraal Zwitserland. Mede hierom wordt Monte Sighignola ook wel het balkon of het dak van Italië genoemd. De weg hiernaartoe gaat via Lanzo d'Intelvi.

A panoramic terrace just below the summit, and directly on the Italian side of the border, provides extensive views especially to the west, over Lake Lugano and the city of Lugano, to the Alps. For this reason, the site is often known as the Balcone d'Italia.

Si trova sul confine italo-svizzero, tra il comune italiano di Alta Valle Intelvi (dove si trova la cima) e quelli svizzeri di Arogno e Lugano. Sulla cima vi è una cappella degli alpini e poco sotto il balcone d'Italia da cui si ammira la vista su un'ampia porzione del lago di Lugano e in particolare su , Lugano e Melide col ponte che attraversa il lago. La particolarità del monte sta nel fatto che 1/4 del territorio (porzione est), compresa la cima, è Italiana mentre i restanti 3/4 son svizzeri.

Der Sighignola ist ein 1'314 Meter hoher Berg der Luganer Voralpen. Er befindet sich an der italienisch-schweizerischen Grenze zwischen dem italienischen Dorf Lanzo d’Intelvi, wo sich der Gipfel befindet, und den Schweizer Gemeinden Arogno und Lugano. Der Gipfel ist auch der höchste Punkt des Val d’Intelvi und kann von Lanzo d’Intelvi über eine Strasse erreicht werden. Auf dem Gipfel befindet sich eine kleine Kapelle, ein Restaurant und eine Aussichtsterrasse. Die Terrasse befindet sich fast genau auf der Grenze, aber noch auf italienischem Gebiet. Von dort kann man in Richtung Westen unter anderem den Luganersee sowie einige Viertausender der Alpen, darunter den Monte Rosa, sehen. Der Berg wird wegen dieser Aussicht auch "Balkon Italiens" genannt.

For this reason, the site is often known as the Balcone d'Italia. The eastern, Italian, slopes are relatively gentle, and the viewing terrace can be reached by road from Lanzo d’Intelvi, a frazione of the Italian comune of Alta Valle Intelvi, to the east. The slopes to the west down to Lake Lugano are much steeper, and the upper slopes are within the Swiss municipality of Arogno. However, the lakeside below the mountain is occupied by the Italian exclave of Campione d'Italia. In 1969 it was planned to construct a cable car from Sighignola, across the Swiss upper slopes, to Campione d'Italia. Whilst construction was started, the cable car never opened, and in 2009 an agreement was reached between the Italian and Swiss authorities to remove the remains of the cable car structure.
