In addition they cover parts of the Los Padres National Forest, The majority of the Santa Barbara Coastline, substantial open space reserves, and many private ranch communities. The Santa Barbara County fire Department is a contract county with the California State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Under the terms of the contract, the Fire Department is responsible for suppression of fires on SRA "State Responsibility Area" for CalFire.
