Rudolf Tillmetz (Munic, Baviera, 1 de gener de 1847 - 25 de gener de 1915) fou un músic alemany que destacà com a flautista, sent un dels deixebles predilectes de Böhm. Fou professor de la Reial Acadèmia de Música, director de la cambra musical del príncep i primer solista de la cort. Entre les seves obres publicades hi ha : * 24 estudis per a flauta; * 26 estudis, en tots els tons; * els Estudis melòdics; * un Nocturn per a piano, flauta i trompa; * una Rapsòdia bosnienne. He was a great contributor to modern ideas on interpretation on the flute with his teachings and his technical writings. As a child Rudolf showed great promise as a musician and was provided a through musical education by his father, Franz Paul Tillmetz. His first performance was in 1858 in Munich, when he was just 11 years old. In 1864 he was appointed first flute at the , directed by Franz Lachner at the time. After teaching at the for 12 years he was appointed flute teacher in 1883 at the Royal Music School.
