Da dieses Umschriftsystem jedoch erhebliche Nachteile aufweist (siehe unten), halten sich selbst Regierungsstellen nicht immer daran und es existieren daneben noch weitere Romanisierungssysteme. So haben viele Sprachlehrbücher, Wörterbücher sowie Reiseführer ein eigenes System der Romanisierung. Zudem basieren solche Systeme oft vollständig auf dem Englischen, sodass dann vor allem die Umschrift der Vokale besonders unregelmäßig ist.
