It was the second genus of radiodont found to possess gnathobase-like structures (abbreviated as GLS) and an atypical oral cone after Amplectobelua. It was discovered in the Chengjiang biota of China, the home of numerous radiodontids such as Amplectobelua and Lyrarapax.
