Die Phase-Distortion-Synthese (PD-Synthese) ist ein in den 1980er Jahren von der Firma Casio erfundenes Verfahren zur Tonerzeugung bei Synthesizern. Sie wurde unter anderem von Isao Tomita und Yukihiro Takahashi mitentwickelt und in den CZ-Serien und PD-Serien der Casio-Synthesizer eingesetzt. Das Verfahren arbeitete mit Samples, die eine Länge von nur einer Periodendauer besaßen und auf damaliger Hardware preiswert speicherbar waren.
