Peter Schmidl (* 10. Januar 1941 in Olmütz, Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren) ist ein österreichischer Klarinettist und Hochschullehrer. Er war Professor an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien und von 1968 bis 2010 aktives Mitglied der Wiener Philharmoniker.

Schmidl was born in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and studied clarinet with Rudolf Jettel at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. He was the principal clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He has played with the MDR Orchestra, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, and the Tokyo New Philharmonia. He has taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna since 1967.
