Painkiller (nebo také Pain Killer) byla americká experimentální hudební skupina, založená v roce 1991. Ve skupině hráli vždy tři hlavní členové, které většinou doprovázeli ještě další hudebníci. Hlavními členy byli saxofonista John Zorn, baskytarista Bill Laswell a bubeník . V letech 1991 a 1992 skupina vydala dvě bezmála půlhodinová EP. Roku 1994 vyšlo album obsahující tři dlouhé skladby doplněné o dvě ambientní dubové verze skladeb.

Painkiller – awangardowa grupa muzyczna istniejąca w latach 1991–1995. Zasadniczo było to trio w składzie: saksofonista John Zorn, basista Bill Laswell oraz perkusista i wokalista Mick Harris (z grupy Napalm Death). Jednak w ukształtowaniu się brzmienia zespołu olbrzymią rolę odegrał ich inż. dźwięku Oz Fritz i muzycy traktowali go jako czwartego członka grupy. Zespół wykonywał muzykę łączącą elementy free jazzu, heavy metalu, rocka i muzyki Dalekiego Wschodu. Na brzmienie grupy miała także wpływ wschodnia idea wszechobecnego w naszym świecie cierpienia.

Every issue also has a cover CD and a 'Metal In China' section which promotes and introduces bands on the local Chinese heavy metal scene in which several city scenes are presented and Chinese heavy metal is explained including its function as a 'rebellion of denial' due to the new sound movement. The content focuses on articles and interviews, photographs of live concerts from around the world and in China, CD reviews, and posters – mainly with foreign metal bands from the genres: Heavy metal, power metal, progressive metal, nu metal, hard rock, metalcore, darkwave/gothic/industrial, hard core, thrash metal, death metal, black metal, grindcore, etc. Further activities include the support of the local metal underground, the organization of concerts, CD distribution throughout China, and certain internet activities. Painkiller co-promoted the German band, , for a concert in Beijing in March 2006 which marked the begin of Painkiller as promoter and live show producer in China.
