Los municipios de Sudáfrica son divisiones de gobierno local que se encuentran en un nivel inferior al gobierno provincial y constituyen el nivel más bajo de la estructura de gobierno democrático del país. Since the boundary reform at the time of the municipal election of 3 August 2016 there are eight metropolitan municipalities, 44 district municipalities and 205 local municipalities.
