Morton Owen Schapiro (born July 13, 1953) is an American economist and the former president of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Before assuming the Northwestern presidency in 2009, he served as president of Williams College for nine years. Earlier, Schapiro was Dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Southern California. In March 2021, Schapiro announced that he would step down as president of Northwestern University in the following year.
