Η μικροπροσομοιωτική (από μικροαναλυτικη προσομοίωση) είναι μια κατηγορία των ηλεκτρονικών εργαλείων ανάλυσης που εκτελούν εξαιρετικά λεπτομερή ανάλυση των δραστηριοτήτων, όπως η κίνηση αυτοκινητόδρομου που ρέει μέσα από μια διασταύρωση, οικονομικές συναλλαγές, ή παθογόνα εξάπλωση ασθενειών μέσω ενός πληθυσμού. Mikrosimulation ist eine Art der computergestützten Simulation. Mikrosimulation wird häufig verwendet, um die Wirkungen von Maßnahmen zu bewerten, bevor sie in der realen Welt umgesetzt werden. Die meisten uns umgebenden Dinge und Situationen setzen sich aus mehreren einzelnen Bestandteilen zusammen. Wird bei einer Simulation das zu Untersuchende in seine Bestandteile zerlegt und benutzt die Simulation Modelle dieser Bestandteile und nicht ein Modell des aus ihnen bestehenden Ganzen, werden zum Beispiel einzelne Gasatome zur Simulation der Bewegung einer Gaswolke oder einzelne Fahrzeuge zur Simulation des Verkehrsflusses simuliert, spricht man von einer "mikroskopischen Simulation" und grenzt solche Modelle somit von einer Makrosimulation ab.
