May Thompson Evans (February 12, 1901 – August 9, 1993) was an American public official, teacher, and activist who worked in the Office of Price Administration, the War Manpower Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Federal Security Agency and finally the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. She began her career as a teacher at the Women's College of the University of North Carolina and then became the first woman to direct the North Carolina Employment Service. Later she moved to Washington, D. C. to serve as assistant director of the Women's Division of the Democratic National Committee. rdf:langString
