The Lullusglocke is the oldest datable cast bell in Germany. The inscription indicates it was cast on 24 June 1038. It hangs in the Catherine Tower (German: Katharinenturm) in the ruins of the monastery of Bad Hersfeld in Hesse. In 2002 the bell tower was repaired by the Friends of the Stiftsruine (monastery ruins). As part of the works the old clapper was removed and hung in the Stadtsmuseum. A new clapper has been fitted and the bell can now be rung. The bell is suspended from a new yoke and is rung by pulling on ropes.

Den väger cirka 1 ton, och har en största diameter på 1,12 meter. Den har grundtonen h° och rings för hand med rep. Det finns dock en äldre odaterad klocka i Köln, en fyrkantig sammangjuten klocka av järnplåt, troligen från 800-talet.

Bis zu der Sanierung wurde die Glocke auch nur noch einmal im Jahr, zu diesem Fest geläutet. Seitdem erklingt sie zu besonderen Anlässen, wie dem Lullusfest in der Woche des 16. Oktober (Todestag von Lullus), am Sonntagabend nach dem Fackelzug und der Ansprache in der Stiftsruine, zum Jahreswechsel um 24 Uhr und an kirchlichen Hochfesten (Weihnachten, Ostersonntag, Pfingstsonntag) um 12 Uhr.
