الموارنة في لبنان هم المواطنون اللبنانيون الذي يتبعون الكنيسة المارونية ويعتبرون من أكبر الطوائف المسيحية في لبنان. وتقدر اعدادهم بحوالي 1,062,000 ويشكلون 22% من مجموع سكان لبنان المنقسمين إلى طوائف عدة. وبموجب اتفاق الميثاق الوطني غير المكتوب فانه ينص على وجوب أن يكون رئيس الدولة مارونياً. كان الموارنة ينتمون إلى الطبقة الحاكمة، حيث تقاسموا في البداية السلطة مع الموحدون الدروز، ثم لاحقاً مع المُسلمين السُّنة.

Según algunas fuentes, son cerca del 22% del total nacional y junto con los musulmanes chiitas (27%) y los musulmanes sunitas (27%) conforman las confesiones de mayor peso demográfico en el país. Pero estos datos son solo cálculos, pues Líbano no cuenta con un censo oficial desde el último realizado por el gobierno francés en 1932.

Lebanon's constitution was intended to guarantee political representation for each of the nation's ethno-religious groups. The Maronite Catholics and the Druze founded modern Lebanon in the early eighteenth century, through the ruling and social system known as the "" in Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate. Under the terms of an unwritten agreement known as the National Pact between the various political and religious leaders of Lebanon, the president of the country must be a Maronite.

Por eso la Presidencia corresponde a un ciudadano maronita puesto que hasta la fecha ocupa Michel Aoun; el cargo de primer ministro lo ocupa un musulmán sunita y el de presidente del Parlamento corresponde a un musulmán chiita.
