Junto a Ratnagiri y Udayagiri forma parte de la Universidad de Puspagiri. Desde 1985, se han llevado a cabo numerosas excavaciones, principalmente por parte de la Archaeological Survey of India. It used to be thought that one or all of these were the large Pushpagiri Vihara known from ancient records, but this has now convincingly located at a different site.
