핵심리스크지표(Key Risk Indicator, KRI)는 회사의 리스크 특성을 객관적으로 수치화 하고 이를 통해 리스크의 변화량을 관찰하며 손실사건 징후를 조기에 포착 예방하기위한 지표를 말한다. 손실사건과 리스크지표간의 인과관계를 정확하게 설명하지 못한다면 KRI는 의미가 없게 된다.

It differs from a key performance indicator (KPI) in that the latter is meant as a measure of how well something is being done while the former is an indicator of the possibility of future adverse impact.
