Moltar Heffernan mar dhuine de na peileadóirí agus bainisteoirí is fearr a bhí ann riamh, rud a thuill áit dó ar Fhoireann Pheile na Mílaoise. Chuir éachtaí Heffo borradh mór nua faoi chúrsaí peile i mBaile Átha Cliath, tráth ina raibh na cluichí iasachta ag fáil an láimh in uachtar sa phríomhchathair. Bhí dlúthbhaint aige lena chumann áitiúil Naomh Uinseann i Marino. Ghnóthaigh sé cúig bhonn déag sa pheil agus sé bhonn san iomáint ag leibhéal an chontae.
