A fifteenth-century pedigree concerning Clan Matheson (Clann Mhic Mhathain) seems to indicate that Kermac is identical to a certain Coinneach mac Mathghamhna, ancestor of the clan. The latter may or may not be an ancestor of Clan Mackenzie (Clann Choinnich).
