Kattakada is a town in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. It is situated 13km north of Neyyattinkara town, 18km south of Nedumangad town and 20km east of Capital City Thiruvananthapuram. There is also a Tehsil/Taluk called Kattakada. It comprises 14 revenue villages and 12 Panchayats that surround the town. This taluk was formed in February 2014. A principios del siglo XIX, un grupo de comerciantes procedentes de Tamil Nadu crearon un mercado en torno a un baniano de la localidad, dando origen al actual topónimo, que significa "mercado del baniano". Con el tiempo, la zona se desarrolló como un área urbana periférica de la capital estatal.​​ Se ubica unos 15 km al este de la capital distrital Thiruvananthapuram.​
