Joel David is a Filipino film critic and Philippine cinema academician best known for authoring numerous books on the topic of Philippine cinema, including the seminal works "The national pastime: Contemporary Philippine cinema" (1990) and "The national pastime: Contemporary Philippine cinema" (1998).
