Die International Soccer League (ISL) war eine Fußballliga in den Vereinigten Staaten von 1960 bis 1965. The League, affiliated with the American Soccer League, featured guest teams primarily from Europe and some from Asia, South America, Canada and Mexico. The creation of the League was announced in January 1960, when it was regarded as an attempt to create a Club World Cup. However, the concurrence of the UEFA/CONMEBOL-endorsed Intercontinental Cup, launched also in 1960, nullified any possibility that the League might have relevance as a club world championship.

De International Soccer League (ISL) was een voetbalcompetitie in de Verenigde Staten tussen 1960 en 1965 waarbij jaarlijks wisselende buitenlandse clubs in twee groepen speelden. De ISL werd in 1960 door William D. Cox, eigenaar van honkbalclub Philadelphia Phillies, opgericht. Hij haalde buitenlandse clubteams naar de Verenigde Staten als de eigen competitie stil lag. Hij hoopte met deze buitenlandse invloed het niveau in de Verenigde Staten omhoog te halen. Cox plaatste de competitie onder supervisie van de American Soccer League om goedkeuring van de United States Soccer Federation (USSFA) te verkrijgen. Er werd voornamelijk rond New York gespeeld en later ook rond Chicago, Detroit, Boston en Los Angeles. De beide groepswinnaars speelde in een uit- en een thuiswedstrijd om de titel.

International Soccer League, v českém prostředí známá jako Americký pohár, byla fotbalová soutěž, která se konala v New Yorku a dalších městech USA v letech 1960 až 1965. Nejúspěšnějším účastníkem byla Dukla Praha se čtyřmi prvenstvími. Turnaj založil milionář , majitel baseballového klubu Philadelphia Phillies. Jeho cílem byla popularizace evropského fotbalu u amerického publika. Protože domácí hráči nedosahovali potřebné kvality, pozval přední evropské a jihoamerické kluby a doplnil je týmy a , ve kterých ovšem také působila řada cizinců. V letní ligové přestávce se hrály dvě skupiny systémem každý s každým a jejich vítězové se utkali ve finále o celkové prvenství. První ročník v roce 1960 vyhrál brazilský tým Bangu Atlético Clube, na druhý ročník byla pozvána i pražská Dukla, která svoji skupinu vyhrála bez jediné porážky a se skóre 36:6.

La competició desaparegué el 1965, no tant per les pèrdues econòmiques, sinó per l'hostilitat de la federació (USSFA), que no volia perdre el control del futbol al país. Aquest any, la federació prohibí el promotor William D. Cox importar equips als Estats Units i amenaçà de declarar la ISL fora de la llei. Malgrat la competició jugà la seva darrera temporada el 1965, dos anys més tard, el 1967, aquest model de competició fou adoptat per la United Soccer Association (USA) que importà equips forans, però aquest cop canviant-los el nom. Pel que fa a Cox, el 1967 fou un dels promotor de la nova National Professional Soccer League.

Eind 1965 hield de ISL op te bestaan. Financieel was de competitie geen succes en Cox leed ongeveer 100.000 dollar verlies. Door de weigering van Cox om de USSFA meer invloed te geven, verbood de USSFA Cox om buitenlandse teams te halen waardoor de competitie ten einde kwam. Een rechtszaak van Cox tegen de USSFA wegens overtreding van de mededinging regelgeving werd uiteindelijk door hem gewonnen. In 1967 werd de United Soccer Association gespeeld naar het model van de ISL. De ISL hield ook een bekertoernooi, de American Challenge Cup. Hierin speelde de bekerhouder tegen de winnaar van de competitie. In de eerste editie in 1962 speelden de eerste twee competitiewinnaars tegen elkaar. De Dwight D. Eisenhower trophy werd in 1961 uitgereikt aan de winnaar van de ISL. Vanaf 1962 ging de beker naar de meest waardevolle speler (MVP).
