In organic chemistry, hydrovinylation is the formal insertion of an alkene into the C-H bond of ethylene (H2C=CH2). The more general reaction, hydroalkenylation, is the formal insertion of an alkene into the C-H bond of any terminal alkene. The reaction is catalyzed by metal complexes.
