The first study to be launched by the project was The AWARE (AWAreness during REsuscitation) study. The first results from the study were published in the medical journal Resuscitation in 2014.The study was led by Parnia together with Peter Fenwick, Stephen Holgate and Robert Peveler. The study involved "25 hospitals across North America and Europe".
