Gualterus Arsenius (... – ca. 1580) è stato un artigiano belga. Nipote del matematico e cosmografo Gemma Frisius (1508-1555), operò a Lovanio dal 1555 (risulta attivo fino al 1579). Gualterus Arsenius fu il più importante membro di una famiglia di costruttori di strumenti scientifici. Realizzò oggetti di bellissima fattura e di elevata precisione come sfere armillari, astrolabi, annuli astronomici e orologi solari, le cui forme mostrano l'influenza di Gemma Frisius e di Gerardo Mercatore (1512-1594).

He was the nephew of the mathematician and cosmographer Gemma Frisius (1508–1555), and he worked in Louvain from 1555 to about 1570 (his presence there is still documented in 1579). The most prominent member of a family of scientific instrument makers, Arsenius produced exquisitely crafted and highly accurate devices such as armillary spheres, astrolabes, astronomical annuli (rings) and sundials, whose designs reveal the influence of his uncle and Gerard Mercator (1512–1594).

Gualterus Arsenius (1530 - 1580) was een Vlaams instrumentmaker die behoorde tot de Leuvense school. Arsenius was een leerling van Mercator en werkte onder andere voor de Spaanse koning Filips II. Tussen 1545 en 1575 maakte hij verschillende soorten wetenschappelijke instrumenten, waaronder astrolabia. Heden ten dage zijn er nog 21 van zijn astrolabia overgebleven. Twee van zijn instrumenten (een astrolabium en een jakobsstaf) zijn te bewonderen in het in Madrid. Ook in het Musée des Arts et Métiers in Parijs is een astrolabium van hem aanwezig.
