Gordei Ivànovitx Levtxenko (1 de febrer de 1897, Dubrovka, Ucraïna – 9 de juny de 1981) va ser un comandant naval soviètic i almirall des de 1944. Nascut a Ucraïna, llavors part de l'Imperi Rus, el 1897 s'uní a la el 1913, graduant-se a l'acadèmia d'artilleria de Kronstadt el 1916 i participà en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Durant els fets revolucionaris de 1917, va participar en l'assalt al Palau d'Hivern, lluitant contra les forces del general Judénitx comandant el creuer Aurora. Gordey Ivanovich Levchenko (Russian: Гордей Иванович Левченко, 1 February 1897 – 26 May 1981) was a Soviet naval commander and admiral from 1944. Born at Dubrovka, Ukraine, a part of the Russian Empire, in 1897, Levchenko joined the Imperial Russian Navy in 1913. He graduated from training in 1914 and in 1916 graduated as a non-commissioned artillery officer from the Kronstadt class. He participated in World War I, the October Revolution and the Russian Civil War. He was involved in the storming the Winter Palace, and fought against the White forces of General Nikolai Yudenich. Levchenko became a member of the Russian Communist Party (b) 1919 and in took part in suppressing the mutiny at the Krasnaya Gorka fort and the Kronstadt Rebellion. rdf:langString

Nascut a Ucraïna, llavors part de l'Imperi Rus, el 1897 s'uní a la el 1913, graduant-se a l'acadèmia d'artilleria de Kronstadt el 1916 i participà en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Durant els fets revolucionaris de 1917, va participar en l'assalt al Palau d'Hivern, lluitant contra les forces del general Judénitx comandant el creuer Aurora. Levtxenko esdevingué membre del Partit Bolxevic el 1919. Durant la Guerra Civil participà en la supressió dels motins al i a la Rebel·lió de Kronstadt. Va ser promogut a comandant de l'Aurora el 1922; i el 1932 comandà la . Des de 1933 comandà la divisió de cuirassats de la Flota del Bàltic i l'esquadró de destructors de la Flota del Mar Negre. Des de 1937 va ser cap de l'Estat Major, el 1938 és destinat a la Flota del Bàltic, i des de 1939 va ser Vicecomissari del Poble de la Marina. Durant la Gran Guerra Patriòtica participà en els combats d'Odessa, Nikolaiev i Sebastòpol, sent comandant de Crimea. Va ser detingut durant una purga el 1941, es declarà culpable del fracàs per un atac de pànic i sentenciat a 10 anys, però va ser alliberat el 31 de gener de 1942, encara que degradat al rang de capità de 1a. El 8 de juliol de 1942 dirigí el , al golf de Finlàndia, tot i que resultà en un desastre, amb la pèrdua de 8 naus. Entre finals de 1942 i 1944 va ser comandant de la base de Leningrad, ajudant a portar subministraments a la ciutat durant el setge. Va ser comandant de la Flota del Bàltic entre 1946 i 1953. i Viceministre de la Marina entre 1953 i 1960, sent promogut al rang d'Almirall. Entre 1956 i 1958 és subcomandant de la Marina per a l'entrenament Militar, i des de 1958 és Inspector General del Ministeri de Defensa. Levtxenko va retirar-se al setembre de 1960. Les seves memòries, "Годы огневые" (Els anys ferotges) van aparèixer aquell mateix any. En honor seu es va batejar el destructor "Almirall Levtxenko.

In 1930, after completing courses at the Naval Academy, he took command of the cruiser Aurora and a detachment of training ships. Between January 1932 and January 1933 he commanded the Caspian Flotilla, and from January 1933 to August 1935 he commanded the battleship division of the Baltic Fleet. In August 1935 he was demoted for the loss of the submarine B-3 during exercises. In 1935–37, he commanded the destroyer squadron of the Black Sea Fleet. From August 1937 to January 1938 Levchenko was Chief of Staff of the Baltic Fleet, and from January 1938 to April 1939 commanded the Baltic Fleet. On 3 April 1939 he was promoted to "flagman 1st rank" and became Deputy Commissar of the Navy. On 4 June 1940 he was promoted to vice admiral, and went to the Southern Front during the Second World War, where he participated in the battles of Odessa, Mykolaiv and Sevastopol. On 22 October 1941 he took command of the troops in the Crimea, until early November 1941. With the fall of Kerch to Axis forces that month, Levchenko was arrested on a charge of inciting defeatism and panic. Grigory Kulik testified against him, and Levchenko was sentenced to 10 years in prison on 25 January 1942. He was pardoned on 31 January, though he was demoted to captain 1st rank on 19 March 1942. Assigned to the Baltic area of operations, Levchenko led an amphibious landing operation against the Finnish island of Someri in the Gulf of Finland on 8 July 1942. The assault was repulsed with heavy losses for the Soviet forces. From late 1942 to 1944 he was base commander in Leningrad, and the naval base at Kronstadt. He was promoted to kontr admiral on 18 April 1943 and participated in the defence of the city during its long siege. Levchneko arranged the transportation and supply of troops during the blockade. He was restored to the rank of vice admiral on 22 February 1944, and was advanced to the rank of full admiral on 25 September 1944. From May 1946 Levchenko served as commander of the South-Baltic Fleet (4th Navy), then as deputy minister and admiral inspector of the Navy from 1953 to 1960. Between 1956-1958 he was deputy commander-in-chief of the Navy for combat training. From 1958 he was part of the Group of Inspectors General of the Ministry of Defence. Levchenko retired from service in September 1960. His memoir «Годы огневые» (The Fiery Years) appeared in the same year. He died in Moscow on 26 May 1981 and was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery.

Nel novembre 1941 venne arrestato e il 25 gennaio 1942 condannato a 10 anni di carcere, ma già il 31 gennaio venne graziato e reintegrato in servizio, destinato al comando del cacciatorpediniere Leningrad, e successivamente al comando della base navale di Kronštadt, prendendo parte, mediante il trasporto di truppe e il rifornimento, alla difesa di Leningrado. Nel maggio 1946 tornò al comando della flotta del Baltico e nel febbraio 1949 guidò a Valona la commissione incaricata del trasferimento della nave da battaglia Giulio Cesare e dei sommergibili Nichelio e Marea, che i sovietici ottennaro dall'Italia dal trattato di pace come risarcimento per danni di guerra, la cui consegna avvenne nel porto albanese di Valona, a differenza delle altre unità, la cui consegna avvenne nel porto di Odessa, in quanto la Convenzione di Montreux non consentiva il passaggio attraverso i Dardanelli di navi da battaglia e sommergibili appartenenti a stati privi di sbocchi sul Mar Nero. Dopo altri incarichi prestigiosi, nel settembre 1960 si è ritirato dal servizio. La Marina Sovietica gli ha reso onore intitolando alla sua memoria un cacciatorpediniere della Classe Udaloj che entrato in servizio nel 1988, dopo la dissoluzione dell'Unione Sovietica è entrato a far parte della Marina Russa in cui attualmente è in servizio nella Flotta del Nord.
