Foch byl francouzský těžký křižník třídy Suffren. Původním nositelem jeho jména byl maršál Ferdinand Foch. Křižník se účastnil druhé světové války. Foch za války operoval ve Středomoří. Po francouzské kapitulaci a vzniku Vichistické Francie kotvil v Toulonu. Během války u něj byla posílena protiletadlová výzbroj. Poté, co Německo okupovalo celé území Francie, ho v Toulonu dne 27. listopadu 1942 zničila vlastní osádka, čímž zabránila jeho ukořistění Němci.

Il Foch fu un incrociatore pesante della Marine nationale francese, terza unità della classe Suffren ed entrato in servizio nel 1931. Attivo durante la seconda guerra mondiale, svolse alcuni incarichi secondari durante il periodo della "strana guerra" e partecipò il 14 giugno 1940 al bombardamento navale della costa ligure. Rimasto sotto il controllo del Governo di Vichy, l'incrociatore fu posto in disarmo nella base di Tolone nell'ottobre 1941 senza più prendere parte a operazioni belliche fino a che, il 27 novembre 1942, partecipò all'autoaffondamento in massa della flotta francese per evitare la sua cattura ad opera dei tedeschi.

Foch was the third unit of the Suffren class. She entered service in 1931 and spent the interwar period in the Mediterranean. September 1939 found her still in Toulon. She participated in the search for the Graf Spee in the Atlantic before returning to Toulon. The only time she fired her guns in anger was during the bombardment of Vado, Italy in mid-June 1940. She was at Toulon at the time of the Franco-German Armistice in June 1940. She remained at Toulon until the French Fleet there was scuttled in late November 1942. She was subsequently raised by the Italians who scrapped her in 1943-44.

However, Marshall Ferdinand Foch, France's most famous soldier during the First World War died on 29 March 1929 one month before her launch. She was then renamed Foch in his honour. The main gun turrets were named after places that were associated with Marshall Foch during the Great War.
