Eric Mark Friedlander (born January 7, 1944 in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is an American mathematician who is working in algebraic topology, algebraic geometry, algebraic K-theory and representation theory. Friedlander is a co-editor of the Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra. In 1998, he was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin (Geometry of infinitesimal group schemes). Als Post-Doktorand war er Instructor an der Princeton University, 1971 Lecturer und 1972 Assistant Professor. 1973/74 war er im US-Austauschprogramm mit Frankreich, unter anderem am IHES (wo er danach noch häufiger war). 1975 wurde er Associate Professor und 1980 Professor an der Northwestern University, wo er 1987 bis 1990 und 1999 bis 2003 Vorstand der Mathematikfakultät war. Ab 1999 war er Henry S. Noyes Professor für Mathematik. Ab 2008 ist er Dean’s Professor an der University of Southern California. 1981 und 1985/86 war er am Institute for Advanced Study.
