East Kilbride Central South is one of the twenty wards used to elect members of the South Lanarkshire Council. Created in 2007, it elects three councillors. As the name suggests, its territory covers the parts of East Kilbride just south of the town centre, which includes Birniehill, Murrayhill, The Murray, Westwood and Westwoodhill with the northern boundary being the Queensway (A726) dual carriageway – a 2017 national review added a few streets around Owen Avenue/Dale Avenue which had always generally been considered to belong to The Murray neighbourhood. In 2019, the ward had a population of 16,177. rdf:langString
