Daniel Dumonstier (París - 1574 - 1646) fou un pintor francès, dedicat especialment a la reialesa. Era fill de Cosme Dumontier i, dotat d'una notable intel·ligència, sabé captar-se les simpaties de Lluís XIII, de Maria de Mèdici i de tots els personatges de la cort. Els Museus de Douai i de Lilla posseeixen obres d'aquest pintor, que fou un dels millors retratistes del seu temps.

Poco conocido en la actualidad, retrató a las grandes figuras del siglo XVII en Francia. Una exposición de 30 de sus obras y piezas importantes de la Biblioteca nacional de Francia y el Louvre se organizó en el Museo Condé de Chantilly en 2006, cuando Daniel Lecoeur publicó una tesis sobre él (Ediciones Arthéna). Dumonstier era un coleccionista de novelas de caballería, poseyendo varios manuscritos, ahora en poder de la Biblioteca Mazarino.
